The Importance of Removing Make up Before Sleeping

#Damages the skin

Sleep is when your body, including your skin, is rejuvenated. You’ve most likely noticed that after a good night’s sleep, your skin appears refreshed, plumper, and smoother (though you may need to splash some cold water to get there!).

When you sleep with makeup on, the epidermal renewal process is slowed, and instead of looking youthful, your skin appears dull and older.

#Obstructs pores

When you sleep, your skin has a chance to breathe, but if you go to bed with full makeup on, it clogs the pores and eventually causes breakouts and acne. At night, the makeup combines with your natural skin oils and debris on your pillow, and this makes the situation more worse.

#Increases the rate of aging

This is a big one. Even if you use the best anti-aging products and still go to bed with makeup on, your skin will suffer and age at a faster rate.

It’s not just that your skin doesn’t get enough oxygen or that your pores become clogged (which happens). Your skin is exposed to free radicals throughout the day. If you don’t wash it off, these free radicals will remain on your skin, hastening the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

#Eyes are irritated.

Mascara, eyeliner, and eyeshadow can irritate and even infect the eyes. It can happen during the day as well, but when you rub your face against your pillow, it gets transferred into your eyes, causing itching, dryness, and even eyelid cysts. Furthermore, mascara can cause your eyelashes to become brittle, causing them to break and fall out!

You can remove your make up using either make up removers, micellar waters or make up wipes.

At night, cleanse your skin, because the skin regenerates at night, you should devote more time to cleansing at that time. After removing make up with your preferred remover, apply a cleanser. This will thoroughly cleanse the skin and allow it to breathe and repair itself naturally. The skin will also be able to receive the oxygen it requires for regeneration.
